Cruising the Grenadines Part 2

Filed under: Hall Of Media — @ 11:19 pm

Bequia is the most civilized island in The Grenadines with
shops and restaurants on the water’s edge in the main
harbor, Port Elizabeth in Admiralty Bay. Water taxi operators
greet each arriving boat to assist with mooring buoys and
offer the usual services such as bread, ice and taxi service.
Daffodil Marine Services will answer a VHF call and come
out to your boat to bring ice, water for the tanks and even
pick up laundry to be cleaned, folded and brought back in a
matter of hours.
I think it’s a good idea to accept a mooring buoy. The cost is
only $15 to $20 (U.S.) and it’s likely to be in a better place
than where you might find to anchor. It’s also easier getting
along with the water taxi operators (often called boat boys)
when they see you are spending into the local economy.
One of our boats anchored away from the others and found
upon returning from dinner ashore that the boat had been
entered and relieved of a couple hundred dollars in cash.
Compared to B.V.I., security is a greater issue down island.
It’s important to lock shut all hatches when leaving and
even lock the dinghy and its engine with the cables and
locks provided. Violent crimes are uncommon. Burglary can
generally be avoided by making sure all the hatches are
properly latched and anchoring or mooring in the vicinity of
other cruisers instead of in isolated areas.

In the morning it was time for the sail to The Tobago Cays.
The passage (past Mustique and Canouan) of about 26
miles was a reach with 20 or so knots of wind. How sweet it
is with the temperature in the mid 80’s and the water a deep
clear blue. We let Paul do most of the driving so he could
get used to a 46 foot boat. Later in the week he would have
to demonstrate proficiency in steering, man overboard drills,
anchoring, navigation and use of systems to complete the
on the water requirements for his certification. His
prerequisite courses were completed at Spinnaker Sailing
prior to the trip.

The front door to the Tobago Cays is entered from just north
of Mayreau Island along a range marked by the towers
located on two of the little Cays, Petit Rameau and Petit
Bateau. After following the range for over a mile, you pass
between the two cays to anchor in the lee of Horseshoe
Reef.

There are no stores, restaurants, or any establishments
ashore here, only 4 uninhabited cays. The anchorage is
protected by Horseshoe Reef from the seas generated by
the easterly trade winds. Water taxis provide the only
services; bringing out bread, ice, freshly caught fish,
tee-shirts, etc. They can also provide a fish barbecue on the
beach of one of the cays for you. Diving services are also
available and can be contacted via VHF. This is a place to
enjoy nature. The snorkeling on Horseshoe Reef is
fantastic. There are dinghy buoys over the reef so
snorkelers don’t damage the reef with their dinghy anchors.
We got into the water as soon as we could after settling into
the anchorage. The coral was in good shape with lots and
lots of small fish. While snorkeling, Melinda saw a black tip
shark and tried to call our attention to it but we were only
paying attention to our own discoveries and missed the
shark.

We stayed in Tobago Cays two nights and had a fish
barbecue on the beach organized by one of the water taxi
operators. It was overpriced and we had to bring our own
plates and silverware but it was fun getting all of us ashore
together from the 4 boats. The barbecued fish was plentiful
and very good. They provided potato salad, rice and beer to
go with it. I don’t even want to tell you what we paid but I will
say: Be sure you know what you’re going to get when
negotiating a price with any of the water taxi operators.
We slipped out the southern Back door of the Tobago Cays
the next day to head directly to Clifton Harbor in Union
Island. Unless you’re familiar with the area, this should only
be done when the sun is high because the gap through the
reef isn’t marked. We probably wouldn’t have gone that way
ourselves except for having seen the area the day before by
dive boat.

The Natural Approach to Prostate Problems

Filed under: Living With Gender Issues — @ 10:49 pm

Prostate is not a problem just for elderly male population. Affecting 1 in 8 men, prostate disorders are much more common than would be expected in middle-aged individuals. The good news is that using natural treatments this battle can be a successful one.

The natural approach to prostate problems involves four steps.

  1. Improving the blood and energy flow to the prostate region.
This flow is affected by things like low back problems, constipation, scar tissue and injury. It can be improved by massage, manipulation therapies, acupuncture and the appropriate dietary changes.

  2. Diet targeted at improving the health of the prostate.
Soy contains natural substances which help detoxify the harmful Di-Hydro-Testosterone (DHT), thereby reducing its stimulation for cell multiplication. It’s a reality that Japanese men, who eat a plenty soy diet, have very low incidences of prostate problems. Therefore, products containing a high amount of soy have been recommended as preventing prostate enlargement. Vegetables containing carotenes and red-orange fruits are also associated with low prostate cancer incidence. Finally, adequate fiber in the diet, as well as pumpkin and sunflower seeds seem to improve prostate symptoms.

  3. Diet high in vitamins and supplements helping in prostate function.
Zinc may be cancer protective as is required to utilize carotenes. In conjunction with vitamin B6, zinc also regulates the enzyme which converts testosterone to the harmful DHT. Vitamin E helps preserve the fatty acids and they are formatted in the human body to the messenger hormone prostaglandins which control, among other, inflammation.

  4. Use of some herbs with beneficial effects on the prostate.
Saw palmetto berries contain substances which inhibit the conversion of DOT from testosterone. By consequence, they prevent the DOT that is produced from acting on the prostate, and cools inflammation in the gland itself. Saw palmetto is effective only in extract form (tinctures, capsules) while a tea made from the berries has no action.

Saw palmetto is used extensively in US. In France and elsewhere in Europe, Pygeum africanum has been shown to work, again, by limiting the conversion of DHT and by reducing prostates enlargement and inflammation. This herb also is a mild antibiotic, which may explain its good effect in prostatitis as well as BAH.

Finally, there is a Swiss extract of Utica devoice flower pollen (Carillon) which has potent anti-inflammatory actions and is effective in prostatitis again by blocking DOT.

This type of approach may not cause any harm and it can be used as a preventive solution, but it is not a substitute for the advice of a physician or other medical professional.

The High Profit Magic Bullet!

Filed under: Best Sales Resources — @ 5:02 pm

One of the greatest secrets to instantly increasing your online
sales is the proper use of Magic Bullets. In fact, by just using
a few on my website, I was able to quadruple my weekly income.
And it’s something that I’m strongly convinced anyone can apply
to their own sales page to quickly double or triple their online
income immediately.

So, what’s a Magic Bullet?

The short answer is a list of bulleted benefits for the product.
But the real secret of using them for high profits is in the
design of each bullet.

More on setting up your own bullets in a moment But I want you
to understand the profitability and importance of using high
impact Magic Bullets on your own website.

First, most won’t read your sales letter word for word. Magic
Bullets let a visitor scan the benefits at a quick glance. They
can see instantly what they’re getting with their purchase and
how it will benefit them.

Second, strongly written Magic Bullets can sell your product
without a lick of additional copy. That’s right. No P.S., no
guarantee. I’ve bought online products solely for the reason
that the outlined Magic Bullets promised me something that I was
willing to pay for.

So, how do you design effective high profit bullets?

Start by outlining every single benefit your product offers.
Make sure you look at it from the perspective of how your
product would benefit a prospective client.

Now go through each benefit and rewrite it so that it creates
excitement. You know, instead of writing “Learn how to make
money online”, write “The One Secret That Can Easily Make You
Thousands Online.”

Lay them out in easy to read bullets. Write a ton of them.
Explain every last benefit your reader will get with your
product and do it in an exciting, specific way. Sometimes I’ll
read three benefits and I’m ready to make a purchase. Really,
sometimes that’s all it takes.

So will it work for you? Yes, if done properly you should see a
steady stream of online profits from your work. Spend the time
to invest in this strong sales tool. Rework your Magic Bullets
until you create a short, specific, exciting benefit. Then do it
again and again for each of your benefits. Soon, you’ll see the
real charm of Magic Bullets, and that magic is huge profits for
you.

Cleaning for Allergy and Asthma Sufferers

Filed under: Health Center — @ 4:02 pm

Ready for another round of allergies?

My daughter recently had a bout with asthma. The strange thing
is, she hadn’t had any problems for a couple of years. In
looking at the possible triggers - She had a new batch of
puppies at her dad’s. While the 2 dogs didn’t seem to bother
her, the addional puppies seemed to put her over the edge.

To make matters worse, since we hadn’t had problems for a couple
of years, I had become lax in some of the cleaning that I would
have done when she had problems every year.

Once I realized what her problem was, I immediately started
cleaning for asthma. That means thoroughly vacuuming walls,
behind furniture, matresses, pillows, upholstery, screens, and
vents, and dusting every crevice- including things like behind
the tv and stereo inside the cabinet, the backs of furniture.

I normally dust the ceiling fans and blinds, but if you kinda
skip those, you need to pay more attention if you have any
allergies or asthma in your home.

A quick carpet clean and changing air filters and furnace
filters finishes up the cleaning job.

You also want to change your hand towels everyday, just in
case it is a virus triggering the response.

If you have pets, keep them clean and brushed, and their
livingareas cleaned. Keep pets out of the bedrooms of
affected people.

The things that typically trigger asthma is actually
pretty long-

House dust mites found in carpeting, mattresses, bed linens,
toys, upholstered furniture, dampness, poor ventilation,
unvented cooking, humidifiers

Animal-derived allergens from dogs, cats, rodents, and birds.

Mold found in carpeting, walls, and windows, caused by leaks,
poor ventialtion, water damage, or dampness.

Nitrogen oxides produced by space heaters or gas-fueled
cooking stove, used with poor ventilation.

Wood Smoke from wood stoves or fireplaces, used with
poor ventilation, or faulty equipment causing fumes to
come back into the room.

Fumes from cleaners, aerosols- like hairsprays, perfumes
and even air fresheners, pesticides, formaldehyde found in
some older household products.

Viral respiratory infections - exposure to infected people

Endotoxins from bacteria growing in soil, humidifiers, and
other moist places.

Cockroach allergen

Tobacco smoke

Excess weight.

If there is one thing you can do to minimize allergy or asthma
suffering- it is to become a vacuuming fanatic. The more you get
into that bag, the less you have floating around in the air.
It’s healthier, and you’ll have less dusting to do.

Psychogenic Amnesia - Sometimes Referred to as Repressed Memory

Filed under: Psychologists Couch — @ 3:42 pm

[The] “Betrayal trauma theory suggests that psychogenic amnesia is an adaptive response to childhood abuse. When a parent or other powerful figure violates a fundamental ethic of human relationships, victims may need to remain unaware of the trauma not to reduce suffering but rather to promote survival. Amnesia enables the child to maintain an attachment with a figure vital to survival, development, and thriving.” (E. Sue Blume, Secret Survivors).

There are several independent surveys and studies regarding the prevalence of sexual abuse and incest survivors who do not remember their abuse for varied periods of time. In a clinical sample of incest survivors conducted by J. Herman and E. Schatzow in the late 1980s, 28 percent reported severe memory deficits. Sixty-four percent reported some degree of amnesia.

In a 1994 national sample of psychologists, conducted by S. Feldman-Summers and K. Pope, 23.9 percent reported childhood abuse. Of the psychologists who recounted abuse, 40 percent reported some period of time when victims forgot some or all of the abuse. In a prospective study of women’s memories of child sexual abuse conducted by L. Williams in 1994, 38 percent of the women studied did not recall sexual abuse that had been reported and documented in a hospital emergency room 17 years earlier. Women who were younger at the time of the abuse were more likely to have no recall of the abuse.

In a survey conducted by E. Loftus, S. Polonsky and M. Fullilove in 1994, 54 percent of the 105 women in an out-patient treatment for substance abuse reported themselves as victims of past sexual abuse; nineteen percent reported they forgot the abuse over time, but the memory returned later.

In 1993, J. Briere and J. Conte conducted a self-report survey for abuse in adults molested as children. This self-report survey revealed 59 percent of 450 women and men in treatment for sexual abuse at some time before age 18 had forgotten the sexual abuse.

Frequently, in working with sexual abuse survivors, I am not surprised they want to believe they made up the ’story’ of sexual abuse rather than face the horrific memories so they can fully heal. “Maybe I am making this up. Maybe I just dreamed that I was sexually abused.” Therein lies the truth…the unconscious mind doesn’t create dreams out of the random set of possibilities…the unconscious mind presents to us that which needs to be resolved–albeit might come in symbolic form until the conscious mind is prepared to accept the truth of the matter.

Which IRA Is Best For You?

Filed under: Investment News — @ 6:12 am

An Ira is one of the greatest ways to save on taxes currently and accumulate money for the future.

For individuals three types of IRA’s will normally come under consideration.

The Traditional or Regular IRA
The Education IRA
The Roth IRA

Education IRA is now called the Coverdell Education Savings Account (ESA).

Education IRAs allow you to save for qualified higher educational expenses for a beneficiary. Parents and guardians are allowed to make nondeductible contributions to an education IRA for a child under the age of 18.

Contributions are allowed prior to the beneficiary turning 18, and contributions may not exceed $2,000 per beneficiary per year.

Contributions are made with after-tax dollars. There is NO deduction for the contribution. Withdrawals, however, are tax- and penalty-free when adhering to certain rules.

The traditional IRA allows you to contribute an amount and take a current deduction for the contribution. Withdrawal minimums must begin at a certain age and all withdrawals are taxable at the rate applicable when withdrawals are made. The main benefit is that any growth or gains remain free from taxation up to the point of withdrawal. Thus you would be getting tax-free accumulation.

The Roth IRA is perhaps the simplest - and potentially the most effective - sheltered account available.

Roth IRA has a tax structure different from any other IRA: contributions are after-tax (no deduction is available) but growth is tax-free; AND once you put your money in you NEVER pay taxes again.

Additionally, unlike a regular IRA, a Roth IRA does not require that you
start withdrawing funds at age 70 or any other time.

It’s more flexible…

Since you have already paid taxes up front, there are no minimum distribution requirements and since withdrawals are not reportable income, they won’t affect your adjusted gross income during retirement.

There are special techniques and strategies in creating and managing ANY IRA that create some huge benefits for the right person under the right circumstances.

If you’ve ever been successful investing in things other than stocks and bonds, you’ve probably wished that these investments could be included in your IRA, 401(k) or other tax-deferred retirement plans.

Amazingly to most people it’s possible to have retirement dollars in
vehicles such as:

Real Estate
Limited Liability Corporations,
Private Stock Offerings,
Trust Deeds,
Mortgage Notes,
Leases and Lease Options,
Joint Ventures,
U.S. Treasury Gold and Silver Coins,
Gold Bullion and many others.

While some investors are privy to the information above, most people are just clueless to the fact that they have a lot more avenues for investing than what their Wall Street Journal tells them.

If you are interested in exploring what your financial advisor knows that you don’t, including where they put THEIR money for strategic returns and investments, you can check out my free site on IRAs at http://www.irainfo4u.com.

More information about these strategies are also presented in my new book, “Scientific Wealth Strategies.”

How To Make This Your Best Year Yet

Filed under: Misc Stuff — @ 1:40 am

You’ve probably made resolutions, yes? Just like you made them
last year? Did you keep all the resolutions you made last year?
Did you achieve all the goals you set out to achieve? If not, do
you plan to do things differently this year? I hope so. Question
is, do you know *what* to do differently?

You’ve probably heard the saying that ‘if you keep doing the
same things you’ll keep getting the same results.’ So if you
desire different results this year, you’ve got to do things
differently. If not, you’d qualify to be called ‘insane’
according to a school of thought that defines insanity as
‘doing the same things but expecting different outcomes’.

Here are 10 things you should be doing if you desire to see
your resolutions or goals manifest this year.

1. Know who you are.

Quit focusing on outward things, which are really reflections of
what goes on inside your mind. You are not your body. You are not
your possessions. You are a spirit being made in God’s image. Your
body houses the real you. Your natural state is perfect health and
abundance. If your current (outward) reality does not reflect this,
it is because you have let your circumstances control your life.
Knowing and acknowledging who you really are, and the implications
of this Truth, and meditating on what it means, will put you in a
position to cause your physical reality to reflect your true inner
reality: perfect health, joy and abundance.

2. Define clearly what you desire.

Do not limit yourself here. I have not asked you to decide what you
think you can have or what you think you deserve or what your mama thinks
you should have. I am suggesting here, that you should state what
*you* would like to be, do and have, which you don’t have right now.
Use your imagination - that’s what it’s there for. You
have an open cheque, so to speak. Fill it in with what you choose.
This is why you are told to ‘Ask for whatsoever you desire…’.
Let that desire be clear in your mind.

3. Believe that what you desire is *already here*.

Everything in this world is energy. Energy cannot be created nor
destroyed, but can be transformed from one form to another - if
you took Physics classes you’ll be familiar with this statement.
Well here’s a real-life application of this law.

Everything you desire, everything you could ever possibly wish
for, already exists! It simply exists in intangible form, waiting
for to do what you need to do in order to change it to its
material version. You know how water can change from steam to
liquid to solid (ice)? Different forms, same substance.
Same thing applies to your desires. Believe this, and you’re
fortifying your ‘power positioning’.

This is why you are told to ‘…believe that you receive what you
ask for, and you shall have it…’

You will learn more about this and the other tips in this article
in subsequent issues of this newsletter.

4. Practice daily gratitude for what you desire.

Being thankful for something before you receive it strengthens your
faith, and keeps your mind focused on the object of your gratitude.
Benefit: what you focus on is what you get (according to the ‘Law
of Attraction’.). An attitude of gratitude also puts into motion the
Law of action and reaction - when you give thanks to God for already
granting you what you’ve asked for, you trigger a response from Him
towards you - ‘whatsoever you desire’.

5. Practice genuine forgiveness.

Here’s what we’re trying to do: cause the thing you desire to be
attracted to you. Unforgiveness, grudges, malice, hatred, doubts and
fear are examples of things that cause resistance and block the flow
of that which you desire. So if you’ve got a grudge against someone,
or a feeling of resentment, even if they’ve wronged you, forgive them.
Do this for *you*. I love this saying “harbouring resentment or
unforgiveness against someone is like you drinking poison and waiting
for the other person to die.” So true. The only person to lose in
this scenario is you. So just let go. Let them be. Let the blessings
have a f*r*E*E, unobstructed channel to flow to you.

6. Practice genuine love.

Love everyone, whether you feel like it or not. Treat everyone
exactly how you’dlike to be treated.

As Og Mandino puts it in ‘The Greatest Salesman In The World’,
when you meet or come across someone today, think to yourself
‘I love you’ - send everyone thoughts of love, whether or not you
know them. Then relate to everyone with genuine love. Not sure what
that means? Real love means treating others with kindness, patience,
respect, belief in the best, not envious, rejoicing when others do well,
not self-seeking, and thinking only good thoughts towards others.
Treat everyone this way unconditionally and your ‘power positioning’
becomes the strongest it could possibly be.

7. Practice genuine detachment.

Don’t be attached to anything or anyone. When you forgive and love
people, don’t do it expecting them to treat you the same way in
return. Do it because it’s in your best interest to do so. Do it
knowing that you will receive, though not necessarily from the ones
you’ve given to. Trust that God will see to it that you get well
compensated for everything you give.

If you’re a business owner, I hope you see how this principle alone
takes away any fear or pressure you may feel when prospecting or
marketing your business.

If you’re an employee, think how much more fun your job will be
when you give it your best shot, not for your boss to notice,
but because you know that God will reward you (with ‘whatsoever
you desire’), simply because of the good seed you’re sowing all
around you.

8. Practice daily sowing - Take ACTION.

Taking the right action positions you to receive what you desire and
believe you’ll receive.

That’s why it’s important to know what you desire in the first place.
When you do, then you’ll know which steps to take to help you get
there.

With your mind set the right way (see tips 1 to 7 above), you have a
solid foundation to base your actions on. The right actions, that is.
Note that the right action means doing the things that move you closer
to your goal, to the very best of your ability. Even if it’s not
apparent how something contributes to your goal (eg your current job
may not have any immediate bearing to your desired goal), do everything
the best way you know how. When all your actions are successful, they
add up to a successful life.

9. Practice daily giving.

Give something of yourself everyday. Start each day determined to add
value to someone’s life. Everything you give is a seed sown, and you
will reap it in multiples. It’s a Universal Law - nothing you can do
about it:). If you desire financial abundance, be a regular giver to
those that are less fortunate, or to your church or other place of
spiritual support. Give, not because you expect back from the person
you’re giving to, but because you know that the supply is limitless
and in giving you receive from God. And here’s a ’secret’: the
very act of giving, sends a message to your subconscious mind that
‘I have’.

Remember, you attract what your subconscious mind dwells on.
So by being a habitual giver, your predominant subconscious mindset
is ‘I have’, and you attract more of that which you give. When you don’t
give because you’re afraid you won’t have enough, you send the message
to your subconscious mind that ‘I don’t have enough’, and you attract
more lack as a result of your fear.

Super tip: start your ‘giving’ habit by sending this email to at least
one person you know - this information may be just what they need.

10. Practice Proactive Health Maintainance.

Your body is the only one you’ve got. None of your goals matter if it’s
in poor shape. Look after the temple you’ve been blessed with. One
remarkable thing about the human body is that anytime you treat it
the way God intended, it rewards you with an amazing degree of health,
energy, vitality (side effects: good body weight, incredible self-
esteem), and it displays the ability to heal itself as well.
So take care of your body. Treat it with respect. First become
health-conscious. Then follow that up with the right actions -
healthy, balanced diet; cellular nutrition with quality supplementation;
regular, moderate exercise.

Bonus tip:

Commit to lifelong learning.

Ever heard that ‘leaders are readers’ or
‘earners are learners’? Both statements are true. Study personal development
material, study material about your chosen field of endeavour, study
the Bible, study, study, study. Spend quality time each day studying and
meditating on what you learn. You can only become a better human
being by learning and applying what you learn.

Think you need discipline to achieve what you desire? You bet you will!
But consider this: which price would you rather pay? The ‘price’ of
discipline, or the price of regret? Whatever ‘discipline’ you reqiure
is short-term, with long-term benefits, unlike regret, which lasts long
after the fact.

If you go through the above list again, you’ll realize that the area you
need to discipline really is your thoughts. If you can control your
thoughts and keep them on the right things, everything else will fall
in place. So that’s what you need to work on more than anything else
this year.

Go for it - you deserve it, and you can do it (refuse to think different).

Best wishes to you.
