Offering Quality Support: Is It About Us or Them?

Filed under: Marketers Den — @ 8:30 pm

Giving support. What does that look like for you? If you are a private practice professional such as a coach or therapist, you may already be clear on the boundaries and standards you operate from. In my experience, most people have only the best of intentions while being of service to others though at times are often left feeling exhausted and overrun from becoming too highly invested in the outcome. Upon further investigation, they often discover that their actual practice of what support should look like and feel like is often not delivered with strong boundaries and clear communication.

For me, quality support is coming from a place of experience and not opinion. Listen to others for their definition of support, of what they understand support should look like and feel like which often are not constructed with strong boundaries and clear communication.

Support can be words of wisdom, guidance and encouragement or sharing a painful lesson and the outcome. It is also knowing when to challenge and when to redirect, as well as mastering listening skills. I also practice giving support by often letting others just vent or by being with them wherever and however they are.

The trick to offering quality support is two-fold:

1.Be clear on what type of support is needed, which means not holding back on asking for clarity.

2.Be clear on what type of support you are delivering while not taking things personally.

Sometimes I find it almost impossible to not want to react or take things personally, even as a trained professional. The key point here is want. What I am clear on is when I offer support to a friend, spouse, family member, client or stranger, my purpose is to keep the focus on them and not make it about me. If I operate under this principle, I receive and offer rich rewards such as:

Deeper intimacy

Serenity

Clean motives
Less inner-conflicts

Lower stress levels

Full self-expression
Conflict resolution

Productivity and creativity

Feedback not criticism

How do I know who my support is really about?

The below mentioned are some personal guidelines in my coaching practice that I’ve co-created for a quick personal inventory to assess whether or not the support and guidance I am offering is predatory, too personally involved, or about me. The question I ask myself is this:

What is my gut reaction to the choice of action or inaction taken by a client or sponsoree?

If I feel empathy, it is about the client; if it is sympathy, it is about me.

If it is compassion, it is about the client; if it is anger, it is about me.

If it is sadness, it is about the client; if it is disappointment, it is about me.

If I feel there is an urgent need for the client to complete an action I suggest, it is about me.

If I am repeating myself over and over about a singular issue, it is about me.

If a client is repeating the same thing over and over to me, it is about both of us. That means the client is feeling unheard, and I am not paying attention and moving forward at the client’s pace.

My job as a coach/mentor/advisor/friend is to assist someone on a path to growth and prosperity, not to recreate them in my image. I listen for who they want to be, not what I want them to be. Under this process, I am a collaborative partner, and they are never wronged, blamed or shamed.

If I really felt a client/friend/sponsoree was on a path of destruction and self-defeatism, I would step out of the relationship and offer support when they are supportable–that is about them.

If I stay in a relationship to change minds, alter results or to be heard, then it is about me.

The nature of this type of “help” is that the coach/sponsor/friend has become emotionally enmeshed with the client/sponsoree and has reduced the ability to compassionately and dispassionately offer expertise without expectation that the client/sponsoree must agree to perform.

Remember: Awareness without action is useless.

Can you identify any areas of your life where you take things too personally or become too enmeshed with the lives of others, whether outwardly or inwardly?

What is this costing you? Serenity? Affinity? Self-care? Time? What might some of the benefits be for you by not taking things personally and living proactively rather than reactively? Or better yet, from the heart and not the head?

Ask yourself:
Why am I reacting?
What, if anything, am I threatened by?
Is this a reaction from the past?
Do I always react this way?

Can I shift out of reaction and stay in this conversation or interaction?

Develop an “escape route” if need be:

Do I need to end a conversation in the minute and continue it productively later on? Do I need to walk away to slow down? I can apologize or end a situation at any moment; therefore, do I owe an apology? Most importantly, was I reacting out of what was really said or done or just my perception of it?

My ability to shift depends on how willing I am. Shifting out of “self” to offer quality support is a choice. If it is followed up with commitment, desire, inspiration and discomfort of new actions, it becomes a way of “being”. For me, I remember the gifts that humility and generosity bring for myself and to others. As long as I remain in the same old perspectives I have always had, I will never really understand what peace, abundance and contributions myself and others might be missing.

The way you show up in your life is up to you, not others. The legacy you are leaving is the result of the choices you are making each moment of every day. What type of legacy are you bequeathing the world? The goal is to remember it is not about me.

Success Lessons From Wellington The Iron Duke

Filed under: Marketers Den — @ 5:52 pm

Arthur Wellesley (1769-1852), who later became the Duke of Wellington and the hero who beat Napoleon at Waterloo, had to overcome his own mother’s lack of faith in him in order to make a success of his military career.

She once commented: “I vow to God I don’t know what I shall do with my awkward son, Arthur”. She even believed he had little aptitude for soldiering! Perhaps this motivated him to become one of the greatest generals in British military history. Several key success lessons can be learned from his life.

Millions are programmed from an early age by their own parents and friends who place verbal limits on what they can achieve. Too often, they allow these limits to control them for the rest of their lives. Wellesley, for one, managed to demolish the limits placed on him by his own mother.

However, at first, Arthur appeared to prove that his mother’s opinion of him was correct. He showed little aptitude for anything except playing the violin and socializing.

But, by 1793, when the French King was guillotined and war was declared on France, he had learned the huge success lesson of the importance of focus. He decided to take his army career seriously and burnt his violin in his fireplace so that he could concentrate all his energies on succeeding as a soldier.

This was probably a wise move. The old saying “Jack of all trades and master of none,” has real meaning. Successful people soon learn that they cannot do everything they want to and need to concentrate their energies on a few key projects.

Wellesley and his family had enough influence and money to buy his way up the officer ranks of the army. He was able to rise extremely quickly from the status of a junior officer to that of lieutenant-colonel at the age of 25.

He used the leverage of family and money to speed up his progress to military success. Successful people do not go it alone if they can help it. Life is too short.

However, Wellesley did not rely on family influence alone. After his regiment was sent to India in 1796, Wellesley began to distinguish himself. He worked hard to master his craft and took care of his troops.

He became a master of the reverse-slope tactic which he would use later at Waterloo. He kept his forces screened from artillery fire behind the brow of a hill. He probably realized early on that dead soldiers do not achieve victory.

He won several important battles in India and then, in 1805, returned to England. In 1808, he arrived in Portugal which was occupied by the French. He soon began a series of victories and, when given sole command, launched the Peninsular war which was to drive Napoleon’s armies from Portugal and Spain by 1814.

The French had seemed unbeatable until Wellesley took them on. In 1808 he had told a friend that he would not be chased off the continent as so many other similar forces had been, because he had made a study of French tactics, and would not be intimidated by their reputation.

“They may overwhelm me but I don’t think they will outmanoeuvre me. First, because I am not afraid of them, as everybody else seems to be; and secondly, because if what I hear of their system of manoeuvre is true, I think it a false one against steady troops. I suspect that all the continental armies were more than half beaten before the battle was begun - I, at least, will not be frightened beforehand.’

Wellington knew how to stand steady in the face of a fearsome attack and he instilled the same spirit into his troops. Cool, steady, courage is a major factor in most success stories. Too many people are beaten by their own lack of self-confidence before they even start. If they do start and run into problems they panic and panic leads quickly to failure.

Wellington was called several affectionate names by his troops such as Old Hookey (he had a prominent nose), Our Atty (Arthur) and the Bugger that Beats the French. He had words for them too which show his contempt for the run away fathers and petty criminals who made up a part of his army. However, his words also show his laconic sense of humour.

Before the battle of Waterloo, it is said that Wellington said of his own troops “This army is composed of the scum of the earth, I don’t know what effect these men will have on the enemy, but by God they terrify me!”

During the five years of the Peninsular war, he did not take one day’s leave. His work ethic was huge - another mark of successful people. He campaigned backwards and forwards across Portugal and Spain.

He was occasionally forced to retreat because of the large numbers opposing him, but never lost a battle or even a single cannon. He was almost always outnumbered by the large French forces that were occupying Spain.

There followed a one step forward, one step back style of campaign that kept Wellington one step ahead of his often numerically superior enemies.

When in doubt about his army’s ability to defeat larger enemy forces he would retire to his strong defensive network - the Lines of Torres Vedras. His tactical skill proved itself again and again. Wellington, like most other successful people, developed his skills constantly and was careful not to bite off more than he could chew.

The leadership Wellesley showed in the Peninsular campaign was legendary. He expected the best from his men but was also a harsh disciplinarian. He hanged looters. He valued the help of his Portuguese and Spanish allies too much to allow thieves to alienate them. Yet his troops knew that he never risked their lives in battle without good cause.

After driving the French from the Peninsula, Wellington pushed on into France itself until Napoleon, pressed by Wellington in the south and the Prussian, Russian and Austrian allies in the north, was forced to abdicate in 1814.

Wellington was praised as the hero of Europe, but peace did not last long. In March of 1815, Napoleon escaped from his exile on the island of Elba and once again threatened Europe.

Arthur Wellesley was now made the first Duke of Wellington and marched his troops into Belgium where Napoleon had gathered his army.

At a place called Waterloo the French and British armies met for what was to be the final battle. The allies of the British like the Prussians, Belgians and the Dutch should not be forgotten. They played a large part in the victory.

Wellington, himself, was everywhere on the field of battle encouraging his men and holding them steady against the legendary French army and their great general, Napoleon.

Wellington said of him that his presence on the battle field was worth 40,000 men. The same could have been said of Wellington himself.

Wellington eventually inflicted an overwhelming defeat on Napoleon, but the victory cost a large number of lives. Wellington had become known as the ‘Iron Duke’ by his men but even he wept when he learned of the numbers of men who had lost their lives on that day.

The British had suffered 15,000 casualties and the French 40,000. Waterloo was to be Wellington’s last battle. He returned to England and resumed a political career begun many years before. He eventually became Prime Minister in 1828.

He was not popular as a politician and once had to fight a duel with one of his political opponents - Lord Winchelsea. However, both men wisely aimed to miss and honour was satisfied!

The Duke was not a man to be dominated or threatened by anyone. Unlike Prince Charles, he was not too worried about his private writings being made public. He made a famous reply to a rejected mistress, who threatened to publish the love-letters he had written to her: “Publish and be damned!”

Queen Victoria consulted him frequently. She asked his advice about how to deal with sparrows which had nested on the roof of the Crystal Palace. Wellington’s reply was brief and to the point, “Sparrow-hawks, Ma,am”. He was right. The sparrows were soon gone!

In one of my favourite films “Waterloo”, the Duke was asked what his plans were in case he was killed. The Duke replied: “To beat the French!”

He was a man of action and few words although he did in fact plan very carefully and took great care to choose the right ground for his battles. Success demands both action and planning.

Wellington made many mistakes in his life and career but his ability to achieve success shines out above them all. He refused to accept the valuation placed on him by his own mother. He focused all his efforts on his chosen career and mastered the skills necessary to succeed in it.

He used leverage when it was offered. He was not intimidated by the reputation of the French at that time and had the courage and confidence to face up to his military, political and private enemies. He knew how to plan and how to act. He was a great leader who led by example.

As a public figure Wellington remained a respected leader until his death in 1852. He was offered a cup of tea on his deathbed. His polite reply - ‘Yes, if you please’ - were his last words on earth.

Wellington died at Walmer Castle in Kent in 1852 and was given the honour of a State Funeral. It was a magnificent tribute to a great military hero. The Duke is buried in St. Paul’s Cathedral next to another great hero, Lord Nelson.

If you are ever in London, try to visit the Duke’s house and the awesome statues to the south east of Hyde Park. I love gazing at these statues. They give a sense of Wellington’s greatness and the courage of his ’steady’ troops.

How to Clean Inline Skate Bearings

Filed under: Marketers Den — @ 10:18 pm

Clean bearings roll smoother, are faster and will last longer than dirty bearings. Grit and sand can cause small pits in the balls and create an uneven rotation. Below are instructions on how to clean a bearing with a removable shield. If the shield on your bearings are stationary, ignore the steps which are directed to removing shields.

If you clean and lubricate your bearing often they should last you a long time. Always avoid getting your bearings wet, and keep them free of sand! Clean and lubricate skate bearings immediately if they become wet.

Tools You Will Need:

Small bowl or metal pan
Straight pin
Bearing cleaner

Small cleaning brush such as a toothbrush. Soft or medium, nothing too hard!
Clean towels
Paper Towels

1. For removable shields: Insert the end of the straight pin into the end of the C-ring which holds the shield onto the bearing body. Very gently pry the C-ring up and towards the center of the bearing, working your way around the circle. Remove the shield slowly, always taking care not to damage it.

2. Place bearing in container or bowl and flush with bearing cleaner to remove contaminants. Citrus cleaners work well. Use the small brush or toothbrush and remove larger pieces of dirt and grime. If your bearings are particularly dirty, you may have to repeat this step. Be sure to change your solvent with each rinsing.

3. After you have cleaned the bearing, pat it gently dry with a clean, lint free towel. Place on a paper towel and allow it to air dry. Make sure that all water has evaporated and dries out completely before proceeding to the next step.

4. After the bearing has completely dried, apply 1 to 2 drops of quality lubricant to the inside of the bearing. A little lubricant goes a long way. Rotate the bearing slowly to work the lubricant in to all of the moving parts. Make sure the balls are completely covered in oil/grease.

5. Replace the shield by placing it on top of bearing and slipping the C-ring into the groove next to the shield. Then work remaining length of C-ring slowly and gently around the fitted groove until it snaps back into place.

6. Put your freshly cleaned bearings back on your skates and spin them to insure oil/greases is evenly distributed and wheels are spinning smoothly.

Warning: Always use extreme caution whenever working with any cleaning solvent. Bearing Cleaner is a toxic chemical and should be washed off skin immediately.

What You Need to Know About Viral Diseases?

Filed under: Marketers Den — @ 7:04 pm

There is a very long-standing liaison between human beings and virus that wander unreservedly in our environment. Virus has a long history of disconcerting people.

A virus is a microorganism that is not visible to the naked eye. It is highly contagious and communicable. A virus attacks and clips to a living cell of the human body. It then discharges its DNA or RNA, which smashes the original genetic material and functioning of the cell. But before the victimized cell expires, it leaves or releases more of that virus. The virus multiplied in such a fashion impedes the growth and working of other healthy cells too, so much so that sooner or later the entire body comes in its grips. However, the immune system of the body endeavors its best to brawl the viral attack. But it does not succeed in all the cases. Due to this reason, the doctors and dieticians prescribe a healthy diet rich in nutrition that strengthens the resistance of the body.

The Residence and Transmission of Virus- there are different types of viruses known. Some infect humans, others animals and a few affect both. Viruses are everywhere in our surroundings. They can be transmitted via the food we eat, air we breathe, water we drink, sexual contact etc.

Some common Viral Infections- there are some well known viruses and the diseases caused by them.

HIV virus is one that destroys the cells in the immune system of our body. It is therefore named as HIV i.e. Human Immunodeficiency Virus. HIV takes the form of AIDS at an advanced later stage. HIV virus reaches the human body through several ways such as- via sex with a partner who is already living with HIV, though infected mother’s milk to her child, through human saliva, HIV contaminated needles, syringes and so forth.

Thus, one should be very cautious regarding all these factors. Completely safety should be observed to avert lifelong HIV infection especially because no adequate cure is yet available to eliminate the effect of HIV.

Hepatitis is even caused by virus. Since different kinds of viruses are at work, there are different types of hepatitis. These viruses harm the human liver, which results in its burning or inflammation.

Hepatitis A and E spread via the food and water of the infected person and through anal sex. There exists a vaccine for hepatitis A but not for E. Hepatitis B is caused by unprotected sex, childbirth and contact with infected person. Vaccination is available for hepatitis B and it is better nowadays to get vaccinated against it. This sterilization also ceases the threat to be caught by hepatitis D in future. Hepatitis C virus is transferred by the way of contaminated blood and is cured through medicines.

A possible prevention to hepatitis is to maintain hygiene and vigilance in matters of sex and contacts with other persons.

West Nile Virus is known for causing diseases in animals, birds as well as humans. In humans the WNV reaches through the bite of an infected mosquito. Once the virus enters an individual’s blood, it can get transferred to all those who come in contact with it though blood transfusions, organ transplants, breastfeed and so forth.

In order to prevent oneself from the WNV, check the population of mosquitoes in your area and near your house. Don’t allow water logging, open bins, unhygienic sanitation, open pits etc. in your vicinity
.
Medication through drugs and no vaccination per se is present for WNV.

Mostly the Asian and African continents encounter the threat of Polio Virus. This virus can result in a minor to complete paralysis. The poliovirus can infect person of any age. Due to the lack of hygiene this virus comes in the air through human feces and gets circulated. It enters the human body through his mouth and makes its way to the intestines. This virus particularly damages the legs of the person. The paralysis in legs due to poliovirus cannot be cured. It also destroys the respiratory system by making the breathing muscles immobile.

Most often polio hits the infants. Polio drops and vaccines are available everywhere. People should take them and give these to their kids too.

Inside a Cisco Router

Filed under: Internet Technology Resources — @ 5:20 pm

Inside a Cisco Router

The mainframe of a Cisco router is essentially the same as a normal desktop computer, and higher-model routers will have multiple processors and places to add more CPUs if needed. There are seven different internal components of a Cisco router. These are the CPU, RAM, NVRAM, Flash, ROM, housing and interfaces. By using other element components, the mainframe executes some commands that are given by the IOS or the operating system.

What sets a router apart from a PC is the fact that a router can perform special tasks like controlling or routing traffic between networks. Both the router and the PC have similar components much as a motherboard, RAM and an operative system. Basically, routers are a unique type of computer.

RAM is upgradeable, however, it loses its content when power is cut. RAM is used to stop the ARP cache, store routing tables, buffer information packets and stop queues. Also, it acts as a temporary module for the configuration router when the system boots up. The NVRAM is a nonvolatile RAM that stop your configuration files for startup. When the unit is powered off or restarted this type of RAM is not lost.

Flash ROM is upgradeable on most Cisco routers. This helps to hold information on software and hardware components for each node connected to the network. This aspect can be upgraded by simply removing the chip and installing a new one, which will give you a new version of the IOS. The Flash module is one of the most important aspects of a Cisco router because it stores the IOS image file for all software, and it stores all software backup. In this way, it acts similar to System Restore.

A Cisco router is able to use a combination of transceivers, card modules or onboard interfaces. The housing of the router is made up of physical plugs and jacks settled on the router, and it’s meant to act as an access port for different software setups. LAN, WAN and Console/Auxiliary network types can be connected here, and higher-end Cisco routers can be organized in several different topographies when creating a network interface. PC Wholesale is outfitted to supply memory upgrades for every Cisco router.

What You Should Know About Lasik Eye Surgery

Filed under: Marketers Den — @ 11:48 am

Lasik eye surgery has been big news on the vision front. With many people flocking to have the procedure done it has become one of the most popular eye surgeries. The idea that lasik is a solution for anyone with bad vision also proves that much is unknown about lasik. Before committing to the surgery patients should look into what lasik is and what it can do for vision.

Lasik stands for laser-assisted in Situ Keratomileusis. Lasik is where the surgeon cuts a small flap in the cornea and then uses a laser to reshape the inner area of the cornea. The cornea can be related to many vision issues. Myopia (nearsightedness), Hyperopia (farsightedness), and Astigmatism can all be solved through lasik eye surgery.

Before getting lasik a patient is examined by their eye doctor. During the examination pictures of the cornea will be taken to see what corrections need to be made. The overall health of the patient and patient’s eyes are also considered when deciding if a person is a good lasik candidate. Any conditions, such as dry eye syndrome, may affect a persons ability to get lasik.

After lasik the patient can go home and within a few days is usually recovered enough to resume daily routine activities. Most people experience success and will see clearly right after the surgery. Some people may experience side effects like night time vision problems and light sensitivity. Rare side effects like infection can also occur, but most often can be avoided by following doctors orders.

Lasik is a fairly new procedure and long term data has not been studied. Some people do require the use of reading glasses as they age even though they have received lasik and achieved good results. The patient should discuss all concerns and expectations with their surgeon before the lasik procedure to ensure they completely understand the process and outcome possibilities.

Stephen Kreutzer is a freelance publisher based in Cupertino, California. He publishes articles and reports in various ezines and provides information on Lasik eye surgery at Your Lasik Eye Surgery!

10 Ways to Synch Your Book and Website, p1

Filed under: Marketers Den — @ 9:10 pm

Are you an author that wants to sell more books? Sure you are. We all are. I can say that with such confidence because if your message was important enough to be written; it is important enough to be read. Read by as many people as possible I might add.

In the new millennium the web must play an important role in your book’s marketing plan. Your website address should be included in as many places online and offline in your marketing materials as possible.

To develop your brand and increase your profits include your website address on all your printed media. Here are ten top ways to make sure your book and website are synched as precisely as your palm pilot and computer are:

1. Create a separate website address for your book.

Follow the lead of the best-selling authors in non-fiction publishing. Jack Canfield and Victor Hansen are not household names but their book series Chicken Soup is easily remembered.

Make your book site a direct response website. The more focused your book’s site is the better. It will be easier for your web visitors to locate and since there’s nothing to distract them they will buy faster. You can always link your book’s site to your concept site, if you have one with all your services, forum and general web community.

Additionally, make it easy to connect your website to your book. When you want to go to the Chicken Soup book series website, guess what you type into your browser’s web address box. You guessed it; simply type in Chicken Soup.

This principle is most effective with a concept title but it will work with any. Just make sure the web address is short and easy. Don’t try to use your whole title. Keep it simple and use the concept. Another good example is the Rich Dad Poor Dad series used www.richdad.com for their web address.

2. Give Away Sample Chapters.

One of the best ways to promote your book using your website is to give away 1-3 sample chapters or a mini e-course based on your book.

Fear of the unknown is one of the biggest impediments to sales. Even though the internet is growing leaps and bounds, there are still tons of people that are afraid to trust someone online. One of the best ways to get rid of that fear for the visitor is to offer them a free download of your sample chapters.

You can offer the free sample chapters in several formats. The most popular is Adobe PDF. Readers can download a free Acrobat Reader. Don’t forget your privacy statement promising not to share or sell your visitor’s email. Post your free sample offer in a prominent place and the privacy statement underneath.

3. Emphasize Testimonials.

Immediately below your free sample chapter, put lots of reader and authority testimonials. Hopefully you solicited pre-publication quotes from your readers as you were writing your book. If not, begin to gather testimonials from your readers. Showcase your best testimonials. Prospects want to know someone else has read and liked your book.

4. Focus on Relationship Marketing.

No one likes being sold. People want to know who they are buying from, especially since you are missing the face to face factor. Strive for a relationship with your readers instead of just a sale. Don’t be shy allow your personality to show. A client of mine was stressing over whether she should allow her picture to be posted on her website. Finally, she bit the bullet and her visitors rewarded her with increased traffic and sales.

The truth is people like to know there’s a person behind the website. Another client post a page of his favorite things on his site similar to what Oprah Winfrey does on her showall with the purpose of connecting with his audience. While another post her family trips to personalize her site. Be real, be yourself and you’ll get more life long readers, customers and friends.

5. Offer Useful Content.

Have you begun writing articles in your field? If not, you should consider it. Writing articles (article marketing) is an easy way of getting free publicity. Publish a useful easy to read article in your field and you gain almost instant credibility. You may be saying I don’t have time to write articles in my field.

But wait, before you throw away this method of marketing. Have you considered transforming some of your book excerpts into short articles? It’s a simple way of making your book go the extra mile to help promote itself. Need some extra help getting your articles written? Click here for a popular resource of Earma’s “Putting Your Articles on the Speedway to Sales.”

Leveraging your profits by synching your book and website can be rewarding and profitable journey. Implement the tips above, synch your book to website and prosper!

FAQ About Payday Loans

Short-term loans are a convenient way to get cash in a hurry and non-traditional lending institutions have become a source of payday loans. The payday loan service is also a fast, easy solution to emergency situations when an unexpected payment may arise (a medical or auto repair bill). It is a great option if you have a bill that is due prior to receipt of your paycheck, if you don’t mind paying a few extra dollars to avoid the late and overage fees caused by making late payments, and if you want to avoid the credit consequences. To receive a payday loan, present a paycheck (as proof of employment and regular income) and general personal information. An “advance” on your paycheck is allowed for up to 30 days (an average loan is approximately $300), and incurs some fees, as well as an 18% interest rate.

The payday loan business has exploded in the last few years, and businesses are set on profiting from this growing industry. The problem is many see applying for payday loans as being no different than borrowing from a loan shark. The payday loan industry creates several issues for many, in that it is seen as a scam by many. One problem is that loans are not used on a one-time basis as originally intended. Extensions are typically offered, for the price of the “one time fee” each time you renew the loan. However, if you continue to pay the fee several times, you could end up repaying double. Another unsavory practice is that payday loans often incur outrageous interest rates. California banks, for instance, actually charge a lower interest rate and do not have the high default rate on loans claimed by payday lenders. Therefore, even with bad credit, a bank loan may still offer a better deal than a payday loan. Also, the repayment rate is proof that the “high risk” cited as the reason for the high interest is non-existent.

Be careful of any agreement that requires the use of a post-dated check - it is entirely possible that the payday lender will deposit the check prior to the agreed upon date, causing the check to bounce and leading to a whole new set of problems.
