Great Online Flower Shops

Flowers make such a positive impact on so many people. Many of us remember receiving this traditional gift even when there is no special occasion. Online flower shops make the process of choosing the right arrangement easier than ever before. You can shop and send your thoughtful gift in little time at all.

Some may wonder how on earth the online flower shops manage to make and send arrangements in so little time. Many of these organizations have a network of florists that are located in different areas. You shop for a particular display and the network gets to work in finding a florist in your area that can get the job done.

I love the idea of shopping on the Internet while still supporting my local community. Even small-town florists participate in online flower shops for business. You can save a trip to the store but still shop locally for your floral arrangements. This is the perfect combination for many of us who love our local businesses but hate to run around to make a purchase.

The holidays are a particularly hectic time for many of us. Some florists appreciate that the orders come in and they can work on the arrangements right away. This is a timely approach to the process that is afforded by the online flower shops. The quick process is great for both shopkeeper and customer.

Shopkeepers can pace themselves according to the orders they receive. They don’t have to “sell” any products to the customers. The process is great for the customer who has time to shop at his leisure in order to choose the right arrangement for his occasion. Everyone wins when shopping through online flower shops.

These shops are not limited to floral arrangements, either. I choose to use online flower shops for all kinds of purchases. These stores offer a great number of products and wonderful presents for friends and family. You can find great deals on gift baskets, bath sets and even adorable stuffed animals through online flower shops.

In just one visit you can find a present for your grandmother, niece and even your grumpy old uncle. The selection is vast and the quality is outstanding. Products offered in online flower shops range from toys to perfumes to tasty treats. With this kind of selection you may never need to go to another gift shop or florist in person again.

Search engine optimization (SEO) and search engine marketing oriented website design

Filed under: Enterprise, Marketers Den, Promotion — @ 9:21 am

Many people focus on making their web site design beautiful and visually appealing. The belief is, if you build it, they will come.

However, what they may not realize that search engine optimization (SEO) and search engine marketing (SEM) are absolutely essential.

They are as essential, if not more essential, than the web site design itself.

Your web site can be a profit producing power house for your company, if you find the right professional to perform the right balance of beauty and marketing efficiency.

Search engine optimization and marketing is your key to success with your new web site.

One of the most crucial steps in your new web site design is this: deciding on a specific call to action to provide to your visitors.

The point of your web site is to increase profit or provide information. Many times, people focus on making a web site that looks good.

But that is all they get: a web site that looks good. Things are different when you create a web site with a specific end in mind. Do you want your visitors to take action?Web site design helps for that.

Call your visitors to action, whether it is to buy something or call to set an appointment with your company.

Are you looking for a good speaker?

Schools/Organisations/Conference organisers

It can be so difficult to find the right speaker for a particular topic. A new section of the QEd website (http://www.qed.uk.com) will make this job easier for you.

I have years of experience organising conferences, training days and courses and am so frequently asked to recommend speakers, I thought that it would make sense to bring it all together in one area and make it accessible to whoever needs it.

You will be able to get details on a wide range of topics, speakers and their charges, contact numbers etc.

Just some of the topics include behaviour management, speech and language difficulties, ADHD and attention difficulties, autism, Asperger’s syndrome, dyspraxia, dyslexia, maths, dyscalculia, PSE, inclusion, education in the early years and many, many more.

I have only recently started developing this part of the site and will be adding more details over the next few weeks and months.

Call Option

Filed under: College Education — @ 1:44 am

What is a the Definition of a call option?

A call option is a contract that gives the holder the right to buy the underlying stock at a specific price. If a person is bullish on the stock (expects the stock to rise) in the near term, that person could buy a call option.

Call option contracts have risk to the buyer or holder. If the option is not profitable, the investor could lose all of the money that was paid for the contract. The money is spent is the premium. The premium is the market price for the option, which will change with the market of the underlying stock. If the market rises after a call option is purchased, the premium will rise and the investor will be profitable. The customer could either trade the option back to the market for a profit or they can exercise the option (purchase the stock at the price on the option and then sell it at some point at the going market price).

Trading Call Options

Most option investors trade them for premium gain or loss vs. exercising the options. If an option is bought for $300 and the market on the stock rises, the investor could sell the call option back to the market for a profit at the increased premium.

Risk

Options carry a unique risk. Unlike owning stock, options expire after a certain period. Standardized options have monthly expirations with a maximum duration of 9 months. A person owning a call option that has an expiration 2 months from purchase month, only has that amount of time to close the position - hopefully at a profit. If the position is left open until the expiration date, the call option will expire worthless. The maximum loss for an owner of a call option is the premium paid.

Profit Potential

Since the profit on a call option is based on the increase of the underlying stock, the profit potential is unlimited. The holder has the right to buy the stock at a set price (strike price), so if the market on the stock is 10 points higher than your strike price when you exercise the contract, you can make that 10 points - minus your premium paid. If the market is 30 points higher, you can make 30 points, less you strike price and so on. There is no ceiling to profit.

Hedging and Protection

Call options can be used as protection for existing positions. If you have sold a stock short, a long call option can be used to protect this position. The short sale must be covered, hopefully at a lower price than the short sale itself - that is how you make money on short sales. The loss potential when you sell stock short is unlimited (if the position is not protected). The stock could rise to an unlimited amount, and you may be forced to buy back the stock at an inflated price, thus resulting in a loss. A call option allows the investor to buy back the stock at a fixed strike price. Having a call option against your short protects you. The negative aspect to this is that the premium paid for the option will hurt your overall profit on the short sale.

Short Call Options

Some investors “Sell Calls” or “Short Calls”. The purpose is here is for the option itself to expire. People who short call options collect the premium (vs. the buyers who pay the premium), so if the option expires - the seller will gain that money. The risk with these are enormous, if the option is not covered (you own the underlying stock). If the option is left uncovered or “naked”, the seller can sustain and unlimited loss. The seller or “writer” of call options is obligated to deliver the stock to the call holder at the strike price, if the option is exercised. If the write does not own the stock to perform this obligation, he must go and get it at the market. If the market is significantly higher than the strike price, he can lose that difference.

Covered Calls

The more conservative way to engage in call shorting, is to do them with existing long stock positions. If a person owns shares at a price, he or she can short a call option the same stock. Doing this allows the person to make the premium, thus lowering his cost. It also covers the option itself, so if the option is exercised - the investor can deliver his own stock and not have to buy a new 100 shares from the market.

Only seasoned investors should engage in options trading. Talk to your broker or advisor to see if they are right for you. “Baby Steps” are the key in the beginning, but once you know your way around, you can put yourself in very profitable situations.

How to choose an online university degree program that will actually help your career

Filed under: College Education — @ 6:15 pm

Undoubtedly, an online degree can further your career aspirations. However, choosing a program can be a confusing process. One way of identifying a suitable program is to list your goals and then go through the listed programs carefully to see which one meets your list best. It also helps to peruse the feedback from students who have successfully acquired their degree from institution to see how others have benefited from the listed programs.

There are many universities offering different programs. Doing some research of the official websites of the many universities, colleges, and schools offering online degree courses might be particularly helpful to see which institution and program suit your time and work schedule. It is also important to ensure that the university program and the university itself is accredited and recognized by the industry. You might want to consider the University of Phoenix since it is both trusted and accredited. In fact, an online education from the University of Phoenix qualifies for most employer reimbursement plans.

Accredited by the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools, the University of Phoenix is trusted by students around the world to fulfill their career goals. The university has been able to meet the students’ expectations owing to: 1. Its policy to continually update courses to meet industry requirements and growth. 2. Its emphasis on courses simulating real-world scenarios. 3. Its emphasis on application of learning material with assignments that encourage use of newfound skills.

The University’s has a large faculty and all members hold a master’s or doctoral degree and work in the fields they teach. The University of Phoenix ensures that the student’s marketability increases with each program that he or she undertakes.

What is Blooms Taxonomy?

Filed under: College Education — @ 1:18 am

Copyright 2005 Adam Waxler

What is Bloom’s taxonomy and how can a teacher apply Bloom’s taxonomy to classroom lesson plans?

Bloom’s taxonomy was originally created Benjamin Bloom for categorizing and classifying levels of intellectual learning that commonly occur in the classroom setting. Bloom’s taxonomy contains three overlapping domains: the cognitive, psychomotor, and affective. Within the cognitive domain Benjamin Bloom identified six levels that have become commonly known as Blooms Taxonomy.

The six levels of Bloom’s taxonomy, from lowest to highest, are: knowledge, comprehension, application, analysis, synthesis, and evaluation. These different levels of Bloom’s taxonomy have become an extremely useful guide for teachers in planning classroom lesson plans and classroom objectives. You can even find a list of verbs to help teachers design lesson plans in the Bloom’s Taxonomy Verb Chart located on this web site: http://www.teaching-tips-machine.com/blooms_taxonomy.htm

It is vitally important that teachers do not just teach lower order thinking skills at the bottom of Bloom’s taxonomy such as knowledge and comprehension, but also teach higher order thinking skills at the top of Bloom’s taxonomy such as evaluation. When students are evaluating and judging and using the higher order thinking skills they are more likely to retain information, perform better on standardized tests, and most importantly, achieve the ultimate goal of becoming lifelong learners.

There are many ways in which teachers can use blooms taxonomy to help create more focused lesson plans and help students use higher order thinking skills. By following the Bloom’s taxonomy chart teachers can pinpoint what they will teach and how they will go about teaching it. For example, take a social studies lesson plan on the use of the atomic bomb to end WWII. A teacher could teach this lesson by having students read and memorize important key terms and facts. However, even if the teacher uses a variety of teaching strategies to help increase reading comprehension, the problem is the teacher is only focusing on the lower order thinking skills. The students may be able to regurgitate the information back on the test, but the student is not using the higher order thinking skills that will help that student retain the information for the long-term and, more importantly, help the student learn to think for himself.

A simply way to teach the same lesson, but also address the higher order thinking skills is to simply have the students write a paragraph “evaluating/judging” Truman’s decision to drop the atomic bomb. The teacher can still have the students include the key terms from the lesson in the paragraph, but by having the students also make an argument and support that argument the students are also addressing the higher order thinking skills of Bloom’s taxonomy.

Ciphering the Tagalog Language

Filed under: College Education — @ 4:51 pm

Learning the Tagalog Language is essential if you plan to communicate in the Philippines. Tagalog is sometimes also called Filipino or the Pilipino Language. So as not to get confused, let me explain the difference between the terminologies. Tagalog is the national language of the Philippines. It is spoken by about 23% of the population. The remaining spoken languages, the remaining 77%, is divided among approximately 175 other dialects. Tagalog, being the Official National Language of the Philippines, is considered as the base language. If you look at the other dialects, you will see numerous Tagalog and Tagalog derivatives in them. And most who do speak these other dialects, understand some Tagalog.
So learning Tagalog is essential.

That being said, you may wonder what Filipino or Pilipino is. This is a combination of both Tagalog and other dialects and languages. Filipino or sometimes Pilipino (its older name) is an amalgamation of all the Philippines languages, English and Spanish combined together. Since English as well as Tagalog is taught in the schools in the Philippines, many people tend to speak Tagalog with English words mixed in the sentence. At that point they are talking Filipino.
So now you see how important it is to learn Tagalog. Once you take the time to learn some Tagalog, you will be able to communicate in Tagalog as well as Filipino.
I hope this information has given you insight into the differences of the terminology which sometimes becomes confusing.
Please feel free read my other articles which will help provide a crash course on the essential knowledge you need about the Philippines.
Salamat !

The Availability Of Higher Education Online

Filed under: College Education — @ 3:26 pm

The traditional method of attending an institution of higher learning was to go to a school and attend classes inside a building, sitting at a desk, and listening to an instructor face-to-face. Today, because of the benefits of technology and the Internet, it is possible to attain a higher education online. Not only can a student receive a bachelor’s degree online, but it is also possible to earn a master’s degree, and even a PhD via the Internet. Traditional colleges and universities are taking part in an educational and technological revolution in joining with online-only institutions to offer bachelor’s degrees, master’s degrees, and PhD degrees to students from every corner of the planet. The degree programs offered are quite varied, and continue to increase as the technology of online education grows.

There is no shortage of reasons to consider pursuing a higher education online. Proximity is a major reason to consider it. A student can literally be anywhere in the world and still attend class, as long as he or she has access to an Internet connection. Attending classes and submitting assignments online eliminates the requirement for commuting or relocating. This has the potential for significant cost savings. Another advantage to attending college online is the factor of time management. An institution has the ability to offer more sections of courses in the online format, allowing a student to have more option as to when to attend class. This allows the student to have more flexibility, and is an ideal situation for those who work full time and/or care for a family. Yet another reason to consider online education is comfort. Not only can a student access courses from the comforts of home, but this is also an ideal alternative for those who wish to return to college after many years. The stress of feeling the need to fit in with younger classmates is virtually eliminated, and returning to college via the Internet is a great way to ease back into the routine of school and assignments.

When thinking about receiving a higher education online, the prospective student has a few things to consider. There are several online-only colleges and universities that offer all degree types in varying fields that are fully accredited. These universities often allow a student to earn a degree at his or her own pace, which is a big advantage to those with full-time careers and families. Traditional colleges and universities that offer online degree programs in addition to their traditional face-to-face programs might not be so liberal in the length of time it takes to earn a degree as a full-time student, but most certainly will allow a student to enroll part time. However, being a part-time student might have an effect on financial aid eligibility. Specific requirements would need to be verified depending on the institution in which the prospective student is interested.

The fields available to study at online institutes of higher education are seemingly limitless. Students may study any number of disciplines including business, social sciences, humanities, math, human resources, English, art, and healthcare programs. Each school has different requirements for admission into individual programs (such as entrance exams scores and prior degrees earned), so it is important to take those into consideration when applying. The requirements will be the same for online and local students, and the spaces for programs will still be limited.

The misconception of earning a higher education online is that the experience is not as enriching as attending face-to-face classes at a tradition college or university. While it is true that being an online student requires a certain amount of self-discipline and self-motivation, most programs offered online present the same opportunities for group work, independent study, and communication with classmates and instructors as do the traditional method of earning a degree. And because attending an institution of higher education online requires such drive, it helps to facilitate the independent learning process, while at the same time helping to develop time management skills. With the popularity of the Internet and technologies such as teleconferencing in education today, it is possible to come away with not only a degree, but also being more in tune with technology, which carries significant potential in broadening career opportunities. Seeking a higher education online is a reasonable, convenient, and flexible way for a person to advance both a person’s education and career potential.

United Nations Day Teaching Tips

Filed under: College Education — @ 1:03 am

The United Nations, an international organization dedicated to keeping peace among the world’s nations, was created on October 24, 1945. This month, then, would be an excellent time to focus on how to settle disagreements and learn something about the U.N. Here are a few suggestions:

1. Read this excerpt of the U.N. Charter and discuss what it means:

We the peoples of the United Nations determine…to live together in peace with one another as good neighbors, to work for the equal rights of men and women and of nations large and small, and to promote better standards of life.

2. Try making your own criss-cross puzzle from the underlined words in the excerpt above.

3. Relate the word ‘equal’ to the definition learned in math.

4. Research to find the member nations of the United Nations and write them down. Once they are written, put them in alphabetical order; count the syllables in the names; find them in an atlas and make note of their geographic location (which continent has the most members? the least members?); make tally marks representing each country and practice counting by 5’s and 10’s. Which nations were charter members? Which countries were added later? Find out more about each country by breaking your class into groups.

5. Unscramble the names of these member countries:

DESWEN, LAPNOD, GARTENANI, SUITARALA, DIANI, GEPTY, TRAGE TRABINI, NADACA, HACNI, TENUDI TASSET

Now put these letters, from the countries above, in sequential order to form two words telling what the United Nations is working toward:

CROWLEAPED

6. Here are two realistic situations. Ask your children how they would solve these predicaments in order to make peace. Is there another way to achieve a win-win outcome?

A. Barbara, Cindy, and Judy have always been best friends. Lately, though, Cindy and Judy have been excluding Barbara from their playtime fun. Consequently, Barbara has decided to turn the rest of the class against them. Which way would achieve peace? Brainstorm other ideas!

a. Talk to the three girls privately to determine why Barbara is being ignored.

b. Punish all three girls by not allowing them to play.

c. Start a class discussion about what it means to be a friend.

B. William and Jose were close pals because they liked doing the same things, going to the same places, and going out with the same friends. When it was time for their first school dance, however, they both wanted to ask the same girl. Having found out that Jose had asked Maria first, William wouldn’t talk to Jose at all. Which way would achieve peace? Brainstorm other ideas!

a. Suggest that neither boy take Maria to the dance.

b. Suggest that William, Jose, and Maria all go together as friends.

c. Suggest that William tell Jose how he feels and see what Jose says.

I hope these ideas are useful and inspire your own creativity.
