Physical Therapists Solution to a Rotator Cuff Tear that may help you Avoid Surgery

Filed under: Health Center — @ 8:04 pm

After a thorough physical examination, including x-rays, my Doctor diagnosed my arm and shoulder pain as a rotator cuff tear and naturally suggested immediate surgery. “The Ultimate Rotator Cuff Training Guide” by Physical Therapist Brian Schiff has so far saved me from having to go through that surgery.

After I heard the Doctor’s diagnosis and suggestion, I searched the library and the internet for non-surgical solutions. I may have found a possible answer. I started using Brian Schiff’s Training Guide and followed his very explicit directions for the stretching, range of motion moves and exercises. I am in week 2 of a 4-6 week regime and have noticed a marked improvement.

In this article I am attempting to explain how this Training Guide has worked for me and would suggest that you to try this method before considering surgery.

Brian Schiff graduated from The Ohio State University in 1996 with a Bachelor of Science degree of Physical Therapy in Allied Health Professions. Since then, he has practiced as a licensed physical therapist specializing in sports medicine. Through the National Strength and Conditioning Association, Brian became a certified strength and conditioning specialist (CSCS) in 1998.

By doing the exercises in “The Ultimate Rotator Cuff Training Guide”, I came to understand that it was a highly efficient system for relieving pain in the shoulder. Brian Schiff put together the guide for people with frozen shoulder, osteoarthritis, Rotator Cuff tendonitis, Rotator Cuff tears, impingement or bursitis.

Don’t be intimidated by the fancy words, Brian explains what they all mean and how to use the exercises to alleviate pain. He goes into a detailed description of each particular problem and how to best use the different exercises to your greatest advantage.

There is one disadvantage. It is recommended that the stretching and range of motion moves be done everyday. To some this may seem daunting, but it is definitely worth it to work this into your daily schedule. This is not a magic pill; it will take at least 4-6 weeks to start feeling the relief from your regular routine.

In the Ultimate Rotator Guide one of its most valued points is that Brain doesn’t just write out how to do each motion, he has pictures of him actually performing each move. This is extremely helpful in showing you the right form for each exercise. The right form is essential in making the motions work for you. So, not only does he outline how to do the moves in the eBook, he has added pictures in all aspects of each move. In the very beginning of the eBook he answers frequently asked questions that he knows from experience.

Another invaluable part of getting his eBook is that if you have any other questions you can email him. I did, and he always got back to me on the same day.

The Ultimate Rotator Guide is a truly concise map to overcoming shoulder pain. The eBook logically and easily pulls you through the process of using these exercises to eliminate pain in an attempt to avoid shoulder surgery.

Do not think this will instantly heal you, it will take practice. You must do the exercises on a consistent basis. It is critical that you follow the directions to achieve your goal of a pain free shoulder.

When I first started the program I thought that it was impossible to take this much time everyday. However, after the first week when I had practiced the moves it didn’t take nearly as much time as in the beginning. I was able to smoothly do all the moves in less than thirty minutes.

Normally there are always some weaknesses in eBooks but I couldn’t find any in the Ultimate Rotator Guide. My experience is that it is taking away most of my Rotator Cuff pain and is keeping me away from Rotator Cuff surgery. Remember, I am in week two and much has been accomplished.

Wouldn’t you use a program that would take away most, if not all of your shoulder pain? If you want to learn how to strengthen your shoulder and relieve your aching I would highly recommend “The Ultimate Rotator Training Guide”. In fact, I give it 9 out of 10. I can’t thank Brian enough for supplying this valuable information and hopefully saving me from surgery.

Natural Health Remedies and Your Health

Filed under: Health Center — @ 7:00 pm

Health remedies are among the most important things you can utilize to gain full control of your health. Those that are natural are even better for you then others. Your health is all you have and you need to care for it in any way you can. Health remedies are available to help you to do this.

You have heard the saying, “Your health is all you have”. Well, it’s true. Without your health, you couldn’t do the things you normally like to do. Without your health, your days seem numbered, not unlimited. It is important to take care of your health in any way you can. Optimizing your health should be a main concern of yours. But, there are ways to doing this that are not so bad.

The way we live our lives shows much we value our health. Think of it like this. Once you damage your brand new car, no matter how much fixing and repairing you do to it, it will never be the same new car. The same goes for your health. No amount of health remedies can replace the health you once had. So, instead of wasting away your life with illness and improper care of your health, you should invest the time to get the information you need to have a healthy, full life!

If you are sick, you probably take a trip to see the doctor. But, what if the way you are living is what is causing your health to drop? Do you eat the right way? Do you exercise regularly? While many people have good intentions of doing these things, we often take a step sideway when it comes to convenience and knowing what the best course of action actually is. What you need is information. You need information about how to eat correctly. You need someone to tell you what exercises you need to do and how often. But, where can you find this information? Sure, you can sell your soul to a trainer and have them handle it for you, or you can find the information online.

Let’s say that you are sick and you do go to the doctor. Do you feel comfortable taking the drugs that the doctor prescribed? Many of us do no know any different then just taking them. But, there are side effects to most drugs. In some cases, the side effects can do damage to your body in the long run. But, there are other options available to you. One way to improve your health is through the use of natural health remedies. You can find natural health remedies available for many of the common ailments that you suffer from.

While it is not easy to admit that most of us need help in managing our health, we have to do it. Health is what keeps us working each day. Health is what keeps us enjoying the things we love. Health remedies can be a great way to enhance your health, but you need the information about them to truly have them help you. Finding this information does not have to be difficult though. You can find it throughout the internet.

Migraine Headache Treatment

Filed under: Health Center — @ 10:29 pm

Migraine headaches are described as being of a recurrent nature. They are characterized by certain symptoms that precede the actual onset of the headache. These are called prodromal symptoms and may include one or several typical symptoms in each patient. The prodromal symptoms include spots before the eyes, visual field defects, flashes of light, unusual sounds, irritability, depression, restlessness, and anorexia, to name a few. The symptoms may disappear when the headache begins or may merge with it. The symptoms usually follow the same pattern time after time for each patient, and become good indicators that a headache is on the way. Most of the time the headaches will be on the same side, but this is not an absolute rule. The patient may have attacks on a daily basis or they may occur once every few months.

Without treatment, the attacks may last for hours or days. It is not uncommon for the patient to experience nausea and vomiting and an aversion to light. Many people who suffer from migraines will tell you the only way to stop them is to remain in a dark room with a wet wash cloth over their eyes.

The cause of migraine headaches is unknown. Because of the various prodromal symptoms, most medical authorities believe that they are caused by a functional disturbance in the veins of the scalp and within the cranium. Many alternative health care practitioners believe that all diseases begin with a disturbance of the energy fields that surround the body. Because the body uses electrochemical impulses to transmit its messages throughout the body, it generates a magnetic field. In terms of what we normally experience with magnetism, the magnetic field of the body is weak. It is considered to be “biomagnetism,” and until recently it was not detected in scientific research. However, more modern instrumentation has allowed researchers to measure the weak electric fields generated in living systems.

The approach in energy healing is to consider the body of a living organism to be one complete whole. Unlike the “systems” approach where each system is studied as an independent unit (circulatory system, digestive system, respiratory system, etc.) the holistic approach is to consider the complete organism. When any part of the organism is not functioning properly, it affects the entire organism. For certain individuals, this results in a disturbance that results in the symptoms of a migraine headache. The prodromal symptoms are the body’s early warning system. If the warnings are not headed, the cry for help becomes louder and louder until they become incapacitating. Balancing the energy on a routine basis has the potential to keep these symptoms from ever occurring. In my practice I found that many patients experienced fewer headaches, less severe headaches, and in some cases the headaches were eliminated altogether. Below are a few of the testimonials from some of the patients who received help with managing their migraine headaches. Some found that other problems they were experiencing were also relieved.

Factors that Affect the Nutritional Requirements of an Individual

Filed under: Health Center — @ 11:42 pm

The factors that affect the nutritional requirements of an
individual are the quality and quantity of the food they eat,
the efficiency of their digestive system in absorbing and
utilizing eaten food and biochemical availability.

The quality of food that we eat can vary depending on the soil
and growing conditions of that food. Soil that has been
overworked and chemicals added and also drugs and antibiotics
that have been given to livestock and crops to aid growth are
all factors that affect nutrition in our food and can affect our
own body’s biochemistry. Nutritional quality of our food can be
affected by the manufacturing process, storage and preparation
of our food.

The quantity of food that we eat also influences our nutritional
status. In developing countries malnutrition is a huge problem
but in developed countries under nutrition can occur due to
dependency on heavy refined processed foods.

The efficiency of our digestive system affects our nutritional
status. Bad condition of our intestines will reduce the
absorption of digested foods into our blood stream. Metabolic
faults, sensitivity to certain food and the presence of
substances like tea and coffee can affect the absorption rate of
certain nutrients.

Biochemical availability is the optimum range of intake of a
person essential nutritional requirement. This nutritional
requirement is influenced by age, growth, sex, pregnancy and
breastfeeding, illness, psychological and emotional stress,
activity level and other factors like smoking and drinking.

Nutritional requirements change as a person gets older, because
the elderly use a lot of medication their absorption, excretion
and utilization of nutrients can be affected. Growing children
have different nutritional needs to that of adults. For example,
a growing infant requires a higher intake of essential fatty
acids than that of an adult. In the same way there are different
nutrition requirements for young and old there are also very
different requirements between the sexes. For example, a woman’s
nutritional requirements can vary throughout her menstrual
cycle, also a woman who is pregnant or breastfeeding has
different nutritional requirement to that of one who is not.
Nutritional requirement vary depending on whether someone is
healthy or ill. As diseases are unique so are the nutritional
requirements needed whilst that person is ill. The same applies
to psychological and emotional stress. When people are affected
by stress their appetite is affected, this results in less
intake of food which in turn results in less nutrients being
absorbed.

A person activity level will affect their nutritional
requirement. An athlete will need a different nutritional
requirement to that of an office worker. Exercise improves
metabolic efficiency in some people and increases nutrient
requirement.

People may find that certain nutritional requirements are
increase within their family. Genetics can play a part in an
extra need for certain nutrients. Other factors such as using
recreational drugs, smoking and drinking can affect nutrient
requirements. Even beverages like Tea and Coffee can affect
nutrient requirements; they both inhibit the absorption of Iron
and Zinc.

Memory foam sleep benefits

Will memory foam mattress become as popular as spring mattresses? I believe that they will not. At first, the cost of a buying a memory foam mattress was considered too high by many consumers.

It is often thought that a person who likes the feel of their springy coil mattress, but wants less motion transfer or has a problem with the feel of the springs underneath, will find a latex or memory foam foam mattress the best of both worlds. One thing you should be aware of is that once you own your latex or memory foam mattress, you will not want to sleep anywhere else but at home, so spoil yourself if you will, but please don’t say we didn’t warn you. While overexposure from natural latex gloves have caused a small percentage of medical workers to become allergic to latex, many of the latex mattresses use a composite that takes out the natural latex proteins and seems to render the resulting latex foam hypo-allergenic.

It’s true that fads come and go, but every once in a while something comes along that is revolutionary. If you suffer from back problems, sleep disorders, you toss and turn or you just want a fantastic night’s sleep every night, a memory foam mattress or a latex foam mattress may be just what you need. Those are just two examples of mattresses made of foam available to you. When something like this comes along, far from being a passing fad, they are responsible for a new dawn - the next leap in technology. Without doubt, the memory foam mattress is revolutionary and is here to stay giving many people, the world over, a better night’s sleep.

Don’t be afraid to ask the salesperson questions, such as the different categories of polyurethane foam and the difference that could make for you. Foam density levels also make a difference, so it’s mostly a matter of trying as many out as you can, and finding which one most appeals to you. Here’s to a better night’s sleep.

How Japanese Women Stay So Thin

Filed under: Health Center — @ 4:11 pm

The rate of obesity in Japan is the lowest for all developed nations. This also partially explains why they have the longest life expectancy of any race. But how do the Japanese stay so thin?

One of the main keys to a thin society is exercise. Studies now show that areas with good public transportation have on average a better BMI (Body Mass Index) than those areas which do not. Why would that be?

It all comes down to exercise. The people in areas with “working” public transportation on average walk almost 10 times more on a daily basis than places where a driving commute is more common. The truth is even the best public transportation is slightly inconvenient. Meaning that you will find yourself walking a distance to the pick up point and from your drop off point to your destination. When you commute in a car you walk to your car (usually 100ft or so) then sit till you get to your destination.

Japan has one of the best public transportation systems in the world. Most people from school age on use it as a commute and for daily chores. This greatly contributes to their thin waist lines.

The other major ingredient to their thin society is diet. Japanese food in general is low in fat and preservatives, and high in nutrients. They also consume green tea on a daily basis. While similar to coffee in the fact that it raises your metabolism, green tea gives you a gentler, longer lasting stimulation effect. This helps in two ways. Firstly it will raise your heart rate and metabolism much longer than coffee. Secondly because there is no sudden spike and drop like in coffee, there is no lingering sluggish effect, lowering your metabolism after the stimulation effect is gone. The fact that green tea also contains many vitamins and lowers your cholesterol doesn’t hurt either.

So I guess we have discovered that all the nutritional experts were right. Diet and exercise are the keys to good health and weight loss. Unfortunately some societies make it easier than others, but you to could alter slightly your daily routine and experience the secret to easy weight loss.

Cleaning for Allergy and Asthma Sufferers

Filed under: Health Center — @ 4:02 pm

Ready for another round of allergies?

My daughter recently had a bout with asthma. The strange thing
is, she hadn’t had any problems for a couple of years. In
looking at the possible triggers - She had a new batch of
puppies at her dad’s. While the 2 dogs didn’t seem to bother
her, the addional puppies seemed to put her over the edge.

To make matters worse, since we hadn’t had problems for a couple
of years, I had become lax in some of the cleaning that I would
have done when she had problems every year.

Once I realized what her problem was, I immediately started
cleaning for asthma. That means thoroughly vacuuming walls,
behind furniture, matresses, pillows, upholstery, screens, and
vents, and dusting every crevice- including things like behind
the tv and stereo inside the cabinet, the backs of furniture.

I normally dust the ceiling fans and blinds, but if you kinda
skip those, you need to pay more attention if you have any
allergies or asthma in your home.

A quick carpet clean and changing air filters and furnace
filters finishes up the cleaning job.

You also want to change your hand towels everyday, just in
case it is a virus triggering the response.

If you have pets, keep them clean and brushed, and their
livingareas cleaned. Keep pets out of the bedrooms of
affected people.

The things that typically trigger asthma is actually
pretty long-

House dust mites found in carpeting, mattresses, bed linens,
toys, upholstered furniture, dampness, poor ventilation,
unvented cooking, humidifiers

Animal-derived allergens from dogs, cats, rodents, and birds.

Mold found in carpeting, walls, and windows, caused by leaks,
poor ventialtion, water damage, or dampness.

Nitrogen oxides produced by space heaters or gas-fueled
cooking stove, used with poor ventilation.

Wood Smoke from wood stoves or fireplaces, used with
poor ventilation, or faulty equipment causing fumes to
come back into the room.

Fumes from cleaners, aerosols- like hairsprays, perfumes
and even air fresheners, pesticides, formaldehyde found in
some older household products.

Viral respiratory infections - exposure to infected people

Endotoxins from bacteria growing in soil, humidifiers, and
other moist places.

Cockroach allergen

Tobacco smoke

Excess weight.

If there is one thing you can do to minimize allergy or asthma
suffering- it is to become a vacuuming fanatic. The more you get
into that bag, the less you have floating around in the air.
It’s healthier, and you’ll have less dusting to do.

El’ Naturelle?

Filed under: Health Center — @ 1:47 pm

I don’t know what you are reading on here or I don’t know who
these people are that are talking about “natural” skin care, but
essentially it’s a bunch of crap and I have the proof. Get the
details: http://www.ifyourskincouldtalk.com.

When you are shopping for your products you may discover a skin
care product that says on the label it is “natural.” You may
assume it is good and safe for your skin so you buy it and use
it in the comfort of your own home. If you take the time to
read, you may notice the ingredients on the label and you
realize that there are some natural ingredients in the product.
You believe it is natural because it says so on the bottle, but
the product is not all together natural, you are using the
product because of the way it is labeled.

You may realize that there are other ingredients in the product
you have never heard of before and you hardly know how to
pronounce them, so is the product natural? The simple answer is
“No.” Just because the product may have natural ingredients, the
rest of the product probably has synthetic chemical ingredients
in it. In my opinion, the ingredients are not good for your
skin. Many ingredients have been known to cause skin
irritations, and have acne promoting properties, and these claim
to be natural products? Don’t think so.

You the consumer is tricked into buying these products and
before we know it we are using them on our skin. Let’s buy our
products right the first time. It will save us a lot of money, a
lot of hassle and frustration. Maybe they will even work. Know
what you use. Always investigate the ingredients let me suggest
it would be much healthier for you and safer for everyone if you
would search for products containing less chemicals. Save your
beautiful skin. Save your one precious life.
